Overnight on 3 January, AZ Wing was alerted to a missing aircraft that had taken off from Scottsdale on its way to Telluride, Colorado. CAP National Radar Analysis Team members pinpointed the area. An ELT could be heard along the Mogollon Rim and CAP launched both Payson and Deer Valley squadrons’ aircraft. The ELT was located and the aircrews directed a DPS Ranger helicopter to the site. The family of four in the Cessna 210 did not survive the crash. AFRCC has awarded AZ Wing the FIND. UPDATE: See coverage of the mission in the Payson Roundup.
