75th Anniversary Celebration Draws 150 AZ Wing Members

More than 150 members of the Arizona Wing and their guests attended a┬ácelebration for the 75th Anniversary of Civil Air Patrol at Falcon Field in Mesa, Ariz. on Dec. 3. Hosted by Falcon Composite Squadron 305, the gathering included lunch, a specially decorated cake, and the first “Ball in the Grid” volleyball tournament.

Lt. Col. Robert Ditch, CAP, the Deputy Commander for Seniors at 305 chaired the organizing committee and served as host, master of ceremonies, and volleyball referee. Col. Martha Morris, CAP, the Arizona Wing Commander, spoke to the members gathered in Falcon Field Park, adjacent to the airport and Squadron 305’s building. She also presented the “Ball in the Grid” trophy to the volleyball team from Deer Valley Composite Squadron 302.

The cake was decorated with the AZ Wing logo and CAP 75th Anniversary image.

The championship round was a close and hard-fought competition between cadets from Verde Valley Composite Squadron 205 and Deer Valley Composite Squadron 302.
