The Arizona Wing’s inspector general program is the commander’s program to assure objective inspections of subordinate units and to seek resolution of complaints of members who have not been successful using the chain of command.
The IG program is described in more detail in the Civil Air Patrol series 123 regulations and at the National CAP Headquarters IG website.
AZ Wing Inspector General: Lt Col Timothy Medeiros, CAP
SUBORDINATE UNIT INSPECTION (SUI) PROGRAM
PURPOSE: CAP commanders continuously evaluate organizational readiness, efficiency, and effectiveness. The inspection system provides the commander with a credible, independent process to measure compliance and capability of assigned resources.
CYCLE: AZ Wing is on a 24-month SUI cycle.
SCHEDULE: Follow the AZ Wing SUI Schedule link to find your unit.
SCOPE: There are 12 functional areas inspected in most SUIs. The worksheets containing the current inspection questions, how to verify compliance, and discrepancy wording with regulatory citations are available for download at the National CAP IG webpage where you also may download SUI Worksheets.
SUPPORT: If you need assistance in completing the forms and/or have questions about the required deliverables, please call or e-mail as soon as possible so the time of the professional volunteers who conduct the SUIs can be maximized.
Lt Col Linda Yaeger, CAP manages the SUI program for AZ Wing and is available for advance visits to educate commanders and staff on the SUI process.
